BASHERS SHINE AT SA CHAMPS
South Coast Fever February 12, 2010
With a large group of Bundu Bashers making the trek up to Johannesburg last week for the SA Cross Country Champs we were not left disapointed. Podium finishes went to Hayley Smith (1st), Candice Neethling (1st), Burry Stander (1st), James Reid (1st), Evan van der Spuy (3rd) and Garry Neethling (3rd) as well as some great finishing results from Dieter Blom, Justin Porteous and Daryn Purtell.
As for those who braved the extreme heat conditions at the Golovane this last weekend and finished, hats off to you. With temperatures reaching 44 degrees C it was no easy feat. One positive to take home from this experience is that if you can ride and finish in those conditions, Sani2c will be a pleasure.
There will be no ride this Thursday. Saturday morning's ride from Dura Cycles is at 6.30am with four groups heading out. Leaders to Beginners: Reg Mpofana; Intermediate: Karen Preston; Medium: Bernardt; Fast: Jono. Keep an eye on thse leader names as your name might just appear in the future.
Good luck to everyone heading up to do the Classic this Saturday. Word is that the course is mind blowing so be prepared for awesomeness. Finally, remember to RSVP to Mike Bennison if you will be coming to the Bundu Bashers AGM and contact Jono if you have any prizes that you may want to sponsor.

BASHERS BRACE FOR SA XC CHAMPS
South Coast Fever February 5, 2010
Well done to Burry Stander and James Reid for their podium finishes over the weekend.
SA XC Champs is lining up this weekend with a big group of Bundu Bashers making their way up to Johannesburg to race for the title. Good luck to Haley and Nicky Smith, Darryn Purtel, Evan van der Spuy, Brandon Venter, Josh Kuhn, Dieter Blom, James Reid, Candy and Gary Neethling and Charles and Burry Stander. We are all rooting for you champions.
Last Saturday saw 24 Bundu riders take to the Paddock Loop. With a steady pace up to Lake Eland, it was evident that the chaps were eager to test their legs on the return trip. After burning out the great breakfast we had at Lake Eland going up Dustbin Pass the racing was on for the fast group. We have another big loop planned for the next weekend so keep an eye out for details.
This Thursday we will be meeting at Dura Cycles at 4.15pm for an hour burn session. Saturday morning's ride leaves Dura Cycles at 6.30am. There will be four groups this week so all are welcome.

BASHERS CLINCH PODIUM PLACES
South Coast Fever January 29, 2010
Bundu Bashers did very well over the weekend and earned some podium finishes at the first KZN Cup race for 2010. Conditions were steaming hot but due to the pleasant course - with little technical stuff - we all managed to keep the motor room running. Podium places went to Brandon Venter (first), Hayley Smith (first), Evan van der Spuy (first), James Reid (first), and Tamara Venter (second). There were also many other great finishes for the Bundu Riders.
This Thursday's ride from Dura Cycles starts at 4.15pm with two groups going out. Saturday morning's ride from Dura Cycles is at 6.30am with four groups heading out. All are welcome. For those interested in doing a nice long ride this Saturday, there will be a Sani training ride leaving from Dura Cycles at 5am sharp. The 85km ride to Lake Eland is aimed to get some time on the bike rather than it being a fast pace ride. Bring some cash for breakfast. If you plan on doing this ride please contact Erik 082 556 5058.

KZN CUP OPENER THIS WEEKEND
(South Coast Fever January 22, 2010)
With only three days to go until the first KZN Cup race for 2010 anticipation and nerves are mounting. Those keen to take part in the event can enter online at www.roag.co.za.
The first event of the SA Marathon series took place last weekend. Candy Neethling had a true sprint finish with Charise Taylor with Charise taking it on the line. James Reid, one of the Bundu Bashers new members, crossed the line in first place in what was also a sprint to the line with South Africa's best. Charles Stander also pulled in with a great result on his new Epic S-Works. Saturday's ride from Dura Cycles saw a big bunch hitting the trails. Young Megan Smith took a mean tumble down Collarbone Hill followed by Cherrie Downham who tried to avoid Megs only to find herself also eating dirt. Nice one ladies, fine form for the start of 2010!
Nicky Smith is putting his hands to work on our new single track at Douglas Mitchell. It should be ready for the bikes by the weekend so prepare yourself for awesome track on our doorstep.
Lastly, we will be meeting at Dura Cycles on Saturday. Four groups are welcome.
